Minky Giraffe Pants

LOVE these little pants I made for baby B. Super simple, very similar way of making it as the Made tutorial. I added ruffles to the bottom for some kicky flash :)

Jammy Pants

I completely forgot to get a good picture of my rugrats in the jammy pants I made them! here they are Christmas Eve morning, impatiently waiting for me to take the picture so they can open Santa gifts.

I did not make B's jammies...those have been handed down since H was 1!, but H&D are wearing the pants I made...I should get a better photo of those :)

Iron On Super Hero's

my kids have been begging for new shirts, but their requests were things I couldn't sew :)  I had some handy dandy iron on material in my supply drawer, so I thought I'd try that out!

Supplies:
shirt
Printable Iron On Sheets (found at a hobby store or Wal-mart)

Directions:
We hopped on the internet and each kiddo got to pick out their picture, my Buddy wanted Super Hero Squad, and he was very particular on which characters had to be represented. My Dolly wanted a rainbow, and Hello Kitty, and lucky for us we found a picture with both!

I copied the pictures into photoshop to get them on paper and ready to print. Make sure to reverse the image if there is any writing or anything that needs to be a particular order. I flipped my picture appropriately, but when I had extra space and decided to make some size tags for the kids clothes, I of course for got to flip the sizes, oops!

Cut out the image and place it upside down on your shirt. Iron away according to package directions. I struggled with mine and it has sort of creases to it, but I think it just makes it look vintage and love it :)

Dolly wanted a yellow shirt, so Hello Kitty, who should be white, is now yellow :)

This was one of the first "shoots" where the kids LOVED to model for me!

Not that you can tell by her face, ha!

He was so excited for a "boy" project!

and the goofiness comes out :)

Details on the Easter Outfits...

I know, I know...Easter was 2 weeks ago, I'm just NOW posting about the outfits? Well, not exactly, if you remember, I posted this picture before Easter :)
If you recall, I tried to get my Buddy to wear a bowtie...I failed miserably. However, he did LOVE his tie!

Isn't he handsome?  Love him :)  I used a tie pattern from Lil Blue Boo...love her, but beware, there is hand sewing involved in the tie!!! It turned out great, didn't it? :)

Other Tie Options:
Wanna be Crafty also has a "real" tie for boys.
See Kate Sew has an adorable Skinny Tie!

For my Dolly I used the Twirly Ballerina Skirt because I love it so much :)
I added with it an embroidered shirt, she got to choose what she wanted on it!

and last, but not least...my Baby got a new, complimentary dress too! For my Baby I used the Charlotte Dress from Craftiness is Optional.

Super easy pattern and great details to follow! I've never done a zipper and she made it SO easy! My only change would be that I'd sew on the bottom trim AFTER sewing the edges together so that you don't see the seam, but minor details I doubt anyone other than me noticed :)

LOVE them!

Rockin Sweatshirt

We fancied up a great clearance find :)  I used my embroidery machine for this. But it could easily be done without, using iron on adhesive and stitching around the edge.

Note that he is wearing his Easy Peasy Tie Shirt! He thinks they look best together and always seems to wear this combination!

Bowtie

Aren't bowties adorable?

They turn your little boy into such a little man!

I used the bow tie tutorial from papernstitch. So cute and so easy!

I used scraps of fabric, so I did not have the requested 3" x 20" for the bow, so instead I used 4 pieces of fabric that were 3" x 5" and it worked perfectly that the seams were in the middle and unseen!

And one last shot showing what my Buddy thought of the bowtie :) Sort of that "my mom is MAKING me wear this!"

** KoJo Designs has another bowtie tutorial that also looks simple and adorable!

Upcycled Knit Hat

New Hat time!!

My poor baby has more than outgrown her hat. It is a beautiful hand knit hat purchased from Two Seaside Babies, I would highly recommend her! (see picture below!)

Although the width still fits her, it is now a bit short and doesn't cover her ears, looking pretty silly! The snow is FINALLY starting to melt, so I thought a nice knit hat would be perfect for spring! I rummage through my old t-shirts to find a great pink one.

I laid the old hat on the shirt and outlined it, being the width was still good, I left that alone, just adding a seam allowance, but it needed some height, so I curved it up to about an inch taller than this hat + seam allowance.
I also cut two rectangles that were the width of the hat and 5.5" tall

If you had a serger, you could serge these together. I don't. I used my neat little knit stitch and it went pretty smooth! Sew all around the hat and down the sides of the two rectangles.

Fold the rectangle in half, with seams to the inside for a clean finish. Place the band inside the hat, raw edges all together. You will be sewing through three pieces of fabric here.

Fold the cuff up and tack a few stitches to hold it in place. Cute hat, but needs something.

I tried my hand at making a fabric flower, pretty fun :) I sewed the flower on the side of the hat, centering it on the band. If I were to make another (which I'm sure I will) I'd sew it up a touch higher, as this sometimes gets in front of her eye :)
SO cute!!

Easy Peasy Tie Shirt

I love all of the shirts and ties out there right now.

This was one of the easiest things to make... ever

Basic Shirt and Tie Tutorial
Start with a plain shirt (we used a Hanes shirt, they come in packs of 5 and my son LOVES to wear them under everything, so I have lots around!)
and a tie.

my biggest debate was "fat" tie or "skinny' tie. We went skinny.

For my size 5 shirt we measued the tie down to about 16.5 inches and cut.

Sew under the edge, it doesn't have to be neat, you won't see it!

Next I sort of "tied" the tie, making sure the second edge remained tucked in the knot. Pin it on the shirt, very important so it doesn't get crooked. And then sew close to the edge and DONE!

Next, rock out in your new tie!

Also looks great under a sweatshirt :)

Watch for this sweatshirt again...I've spiced it up since these pictures!
